THE BILL OF RIGHTS #1-10
The 1st Amendment
This amendment prohibits anyone from making a law that limits the peoples' rights to excersize the five freedoms. The five freedoms are the freedom of speech (able to express any feeling towards something), press (the right to gather information from anywhere; the government cannot what people print or broadcast), assembly (the citizens can use public property for meetings), and petition ( the right to ask the government for something).
The 2nd Amendment
The second amendment the people the right to bear arms- or to carry weapons. It also give states the right to maintain a militia for security.
The 3rd Amendment
The third amendment basically bans the forceful quartering of soldiers. Soldiers cannot be sheltered in the peoples' home without the consent or permission from the owner.
The 4th Amendment
The fourth amendment bans the government from doing unreasonable searches and seizures of the peoples' property. In order for the government to do so, it must first receive a warrant from a judge.
The Fifth Amendment
This amendment justifies that people have the right not to testify in court if they feel that their testimony will make them appear guilty. Other rights include that all people are subject from punishment until the due process, that people cannot be tried for the same crime more than once, and that the peoples' cannot be upheld by the government without just money.
The 6th Amendment
This amendment insures that all people are guaranteed a quick and fair trial. The accused must also be informed of their charge(s) if guilty. The people also have the right to compel testimony from witnesses and receive representation from the government.
The 7th Amendment
The seventh amendment guarantees a jury trial for all values equal or greater than 20 dollars and above. It also guarantees that a judge cannot overturn a decision made by the jury .
The 8th Amendment
The eighth protects the people from excessive bail before trial. It also insures protection against cruel fines and unusual punishments.
The 9th Amendment
The ninth amendment says that the rights listed in the Constitution are not all the rights the people have. It also says that gives citizens all of the rights not mentioned in the Constitution.
The 10th Amendment
This amendment gives all powers not specifically given to the United States government to the hands of the states or the people.
